Adopting From Moon Creek
PLEASE READ THIS PAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY
It is important to fully understand how the adoption process works.
Should you decide you would like to adopt one of our puppies/adults you will be required to fill out an adoption application.
You will sign and date it stating you have read and fully understand the contents of this page.
We are very serious about our breeding program and do not take bringing puppies into this world lightly.
We do everything in our power to ensure they are placed in safe, happy, healthy, forever homes. In the event an adopting family can no longer keep their Moon Creek dog, they always have a home to come back to here with us.
We put much time and consideration into placing our puppies with the right families. By evaluating each puppy's personality, and each family's lifestyle, we hope to provide years of joy and love for both.

App;ying To Adopt
We require a completed adoption application/agreement from anyone interested in adopting one of our puppies/adults.
Filling out the adoption application/agreement does not guarantee you a Moon Creek puppy/adult nor does it obligate you to adopt one.
Once we receive your application we will review it, and if approved we will contact you via phone to get to know you a bit more and to answer any questions you may have. At that time you will have the opportunity to place a reservation deposit on one of our current puppies/adults, if available.
We DO NOT take deposits on litters before they are born.
A reservation deposit will hold a spot to choose a puppy from one of our current litters.
We accept reservation deposits by cash, check, or money order, either in person or by mail. Reservation deposits are placed in line in the order they are received.
Reservation deposits are $500, will go towards the final cost of your puppy, and are non-refundable.
Once you have a deposit on a current litter, you will be invited to join a private Facebook group for all the families of that litter. When the puppies are born, we begin posting photos and videos. You will get to watch the puppies as they grow and reach each new milestone. We do several video posts for you to really get to know each puppy's personality.
We feel that choosing a puppy should never be based on looks alone, but more importantly, on personality and temperament, as this is a 10-15-year relationship you are committing both yourself and your puppy to.
For this reason, we wait until our puppies are at least 7 weeks old and showing their personality before selection begins.
We use our best judgment, and temperament testing to recommend the most appropriate puppy for each family based on their needs, desires, and lifestyle. We go to great lengths to ensure the best possible match for each family. We spend hours each day interacting, socializing, and observing the behavior of each puppy.
Moon Creek Labradors always reserves the right to 1st & 2nd pick male and 1st & 2nd pick female from any litter in order to continue our bloodlines and the future of our kennel.
If we choose to keep a puppy/puppies from the litter, we will make our choice after 7 weeks and then go down the list.
Final payment of the balance due on your puppy must be made by 7 weeks of age.
Moon Creek Labradors strives for 100% registration and microchipping of every puppy born at our kennel. In order to achieve this, your puppy will come already micro-chipped, and we personally mail in each registration with that microchip number.
At time of pick-up, you will need to have your puppy's registered name picked out and either a check or credit card number for your AKC registration and micro-chip registration. The typical cost is $45, unless you choose to order a certified pedigree or other AKC package.
We will mail in your registration papers, and you will receive your official registration by mail directly from AKC.
"Moon Creek's" must be the first part of your puppy's registered name.
All puppies are adopted to pet homes only (not for breeding), with limited AKC registration and on a spay/neuter contract. Spay/neuter must NOT be done before the age of full maturity at 24 months of age.
With limited registration you can enter and title your dog in many AKC events, including obedience, agility, rally, hunting field trials, etc. Conformation showing is the only restricted event.
A spay/neuter contract must be signed stating you will provide Moon Creek Labradors proof of spaying/neutering by 27 months of age and no sooner than 24 months of age.
